This week’s book recommendation is Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. This book is more geared toward a younger crowd, but let’s face it, we can all enjoy stories of wizards and witches and magic. This book was the inspiration behind the Studio Ghibli film of the same name, which was my first introduction to this story and is also amazing.
There are several differences between the film and the book (which happens a lot), and most of the time I agree that the book is usually the stronger of the two, but in this case I still haven’t come to a decision. I think this gives a compliment to Mr. Miyazaki.
I don’t care how old you are. Check this book out if you like getting lost in other worlds, remembering the innocence of youth whilst realizing the burden of it also, or simply need a reminder that life is full of wonders and we don’t need to worry about trivial things. This is an easy read that is for everyone, and I look forward to the day I get to read this to my own children.
