Resolutions aren’t bad. I do think it’s funny that we all view the new year as a moment of potential and get excited about new things we will do. We could potentially view Mondays in the same way, but alas, we all hate Mondays. Anyway, here are a few of my own resolutions I hope to complete before the end of 2018.
- Keep up my weekly Flash Fiction on this blog (and book recommendations).
- Write a few short stories to submit to journals (I already have a few in mind).
- Finish my book (I’m about 20% done as of this moment).
- Increase the number of readers (if possible/if I can make myself promote the blog).
These are in regards to writing at least. I’m going to try and lose 30 lbs also. New year, new me isn’t really a concept I stand behind. I’m more of a ‘year from now me should be at least a little better off than current me.’
Last year I didn’t have a permanent job or a Master’s degree, so I’m at least doing a little better. I also didn’t have this blog. I started it up at the end of February and my terrible sense of self-promotion prevented me from letting people know I started one. But around the end of August people happened by and I’ve had fairly consistent readers since, for which I am extremely grateful. Thank you.
I hope you plan on improving yourself is some fashion as well. If I can help in any way, just let me know.

I really like your resolutions regarding creativity. I can very much relate to them myself as well. I’m not a “new year, new me” type either, but seek to be better off too. I’m debating writing a New Year post on my own blog. If I were to, they would be creative goals similar to yours. I’d resolve to finish the short story I’ve been writing in spurts the past couple years. It it a very meaningful piece for me. Also, I’d resolve to read more books (though that’s never an issue for me it seems). Also, I would try to continue my personal journaling and self reflection a well as get a strong start with my blog. Thank you for sharing your New Years resolutions! They are inspiring. Let me know if I can help you promote your blog/work in any way! -Tanner
Hey Tanner. Just stopping by for a read every once in a while is more than enough support. Thank you. I’ll keep an eye on your work and hope you get a good group of supporters yourself. May we both achieve our goals set forth for the year. Good luck.
